Welcome to the IUSARTCAR blog. This site is intended for the use of IUSARTCAR artists and for those who want to keep track of the project. We will have frequent updates and visual progress reports so stop by often. In fact, become an IUSARTCAR Enthusiast.
Like most art cars, ours was an older vehicle, originally used as a utility van for Professor and Artist/Painter, Debra Clem (www.turptown.blogspot.com). She used the van mostly to haul her paintings and dogs. She donated the van for the project with the stipulation that she still be able to accommodate her paintings and dogs after our work is complete. That criteria will be considered in our design.
To date, our main foci have been: 1. Brainstorming. Narrowing down our ideas to one concept that everyone is willing to be a part of in the transformation process. We were going "green", but that idea wasn't as satisfying as our new direction set on October 7, see THINKTANK II to get caught up. 2. Finding a home for the IUSARTCAR and the space to enable crews to work on it within a studio context. After considerable engineering, it appears that we will have a studio space at the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center in Louisville, KY. Scott Scarboro will be our on-site advisor and 'Visiting Artist' for the project 3. Finally working on the actual vehicle in the actual space. We're making progress now.
